Peugeot has unveiled the new 2012 4008 SUV. The 4008 will be offered solely as a 4x4 in Europe and will come with three drive modes: 2x4, 4x4, and LOCK which is permanent all-wheel drive.

Previewed as the HR1 Concept that debuted in Paris last year, the 4008 is based on Mitsubishi ASX platform.

Engines on the petrol side will be the 1.6i with 115 PS (85 kW / 114 hp) and 152 Nm (112 lb-ft) of torque, and the 2.0i with 150 PS (113 kW / 148 hp) and 198 Nm (146 lb-ft) of torque. Both come standard with a five-speed manual.

Diesels include the 1.6 HDi with 110 PS (82 kW / 109 hp) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque and the 1.8 HDi with 150 PS (110 kW / 148 hp) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The diesels come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The 4008 will make its global debut at the 2012 Geneva motor show and goes on on sale in markets around the world in the second quarter of next year.

PSA has also revealed the Citroën version today, the C4 Aircross.
