Lanzante Is Making a Three-Seat Supercar

It will likely use a McLaren Speedtail platform.

This year marks a special anniversary for Lanzante. In 1995, the company fielded a McLaren F1 GTR in the 24 Hours of Le Mans that crossed the finish line first. To honor that victory, Lanzante is building a limited-run bespoke supercar codenamed Project 95-59, which represents the year of the victory and the number of the winning car.

Details about the new car are scarce, but the company revealed that it will be based on a McLaren platform with a targeted 700-horsepower-per-ton power-to-weight ratio. It will also have a three-seat configuration with usable cargo capacity.

McLaren Speedtail

Paul Howse, who penned the aerodynamic shape of the McLaren P1, designed Lanzante’s new bespoke supercar, which is teased in the sketch above. It looks vaguely like the McLaren Speedtail, which is the platform Lanzante is likely using.

The company already previewed the design to an exclusive group of VIP customers, but the rest of us will have to wait to see the car’s final form. The limited-run Lanzante will debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, just five months away.

McLaren Speedtail

We expect the Lanzante also to utilize McLaren’s twin-turbocharged V-8 engine to achieve the targeted power-to-weight ratio, but we won’t know official details until this summer. There are plenty of powertrains Lanzante could use if it wants to make its limited-run supercar even more special.
