Bentley offers a new exclusive colour

Mulliner customers can choose the Nīla blue created by designer Supriya Lele.

Those who can afford a luxury car take great care in choosing the colour of their bodywork. That's why the specialists at Mulliner have thought of offering their customers an original colour.

It's a very intense blue created especially for Bentley Motors by British stylist Supriya Lele. It is called Nīla Blue and takes its name from the Sanskrit word for sapphire.

Indian origins

Supriya Lele thought of this intense blue both for its Indian origins and to give voice to William Gass's 1976 philosophical treatise 'On Blue', which explores the symbolic meaning of blue in relation to themes of sensuality, melancholy and sadness.

The first Bentley to use it was a Bentayga S, fitted with 22-inch sports wheels signed with a thin blue line. A white tint has been contrasted to give light, which is found both on the carbon fibre bodywork on the outside and in the interior trim.

What the interior looks like

The cabin features a host of bespoke elements, from Naim audio speaker grilles in satin black to crown-cut open pore walnut veneers, all edged in Nila blue.

"Colour plays an essential role in my business and in the identity of the brand. This shade of blue is distinctive, elegant and slightly different from the norm", said Supriya Lele. "This collaboration invites customers to explore a world where the only limits are those of the imagination", added David Parker, Mulliner's commercial director.
