A 'Neue Klasse' BMW 6 Series Would Look Beautiful
There are rumors it will return now that BMW has ended 8 Series production.
The Breakdown;
- BMW discontinued the 6 Series in 2019, but rumors suggest the automaker will revive the model.
- Unofficial renderings from sugardesign_1 depict what a next-generation 6 Series could look like with the brand’s Neue Klasse design language.
- There are rumors that a new 6 Series will replace the discontinued 8 Series.
BMW killed off the 6 Series in 2019, just as the brand introduced the 8 Series. But now that 8 Series production is over, rumors say the 6 will return. If it does, the car will wear the brand’s Neue Klasse design language, which new, unofficial renderings reveal is a stunning combination.
When the automaker launched the second-generation model in the early aughts, decades after the first one, it came in two body styles—coupe and convertible. It was a long, luxurious, and powerful grand tourer that expanded to include a sedan and a wagon before BMW pulled the plug on the model.
The renders from sugardesign_1 on Instagram depict a new coupe that wears BMW’s new front-end design—and it fits shockingly well on the sleek vehicle. The slim grille openings that include the headlights flow with the rest of the body, and the front end doesn’t look as chunky as the new i3.
The rear might not be as petite as the original 6 Series, but it looks strong and athletic. There’s nothing too unexpected back here, with the coupe featuring slim taillights and a sleek diffuser.
Motor1’s Take: We expect BMW’s Neue Klasse design language to evolve with each new model, potentially losing its chunkiness over time. The renderings show BMW’s new styling can look good, and we can’t wait to see how it actually looks in a coupe.
