Woman Pulls Up To Nobu In Malibu. Then The Valet Calls Out Her 'Fishbowl' Kia: 'I Bet It's Paid Off Tho'
'I hate forced valet.'
Pulling up to a fancy restaurant in a beat-up car can be a little anxiety-inducing. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do given your circumstances.
That didn't stop this woman from going to one of the world's most renowned restaurants. And some people are applauding her for it.
Valet Gone Wrong
In a viral TikTok with more than 1.2 million views, content creator Mag (@maggnutt) shared her valet experience at Nobu.
"Valet is so embarrassing when your car sux," she said about her white Kia.
The clip shows the valet pulling the car up and opening all the doors, the full treatment, same as he'd give any luxury vehicle in the lot. But Mag seemed to think her car didn’t need all the special treatment. We will point out that, while Mag’s car isn’t the fanciest in the lot, the valet did treat it with the same respect.
How Much Does Valet Cost?
According to FASH, the average cost to hire a valet service ranges from $250 to $450 per event, or $25 to $50 per hour per attendant, and that's before tips. Most companies require at least two staff members, one to greet guests and one to move cars, and high-volume events are expected to keep wait times under 10 minutes.
Factors such as travel distance between the parking area and the venue, local permits, and peak hours can all drive up the price.
As for tipping, Remitly puts the standard range at $2 to $5, with the expectation that upscale venues like, say, a Nobu in Malibu, warrant tipping toward the higher end. Exceptional service (fast retrieval, help with bags, politeness) can push that to $10 or more.
And yes, if you're already paying a parking fee on top of it, you're still expected to tip. The fee goes to the venue; the tip goes to the person who actually touched your car.
Commenters React
“I use to work valet and I’d be like damnnn. This one ain’t tipping,” a top comment read.
“They opened that shii like it was a maybach,” a person said.
“No car payment…..FLEX,” another wrote.
“I hate when valet is required like bro my front bumper is literally hanging,” a commenter added.
