Ford Tourneo Courier vs. Fiat Doblo: Compact people movers compared
We take a detailed look at two of the most popular MPVs on the market.
SUVs and crossovers are certainly fashionable, but when it comes to making long trips with the family and with a full load, classic MPV models have few rivals. Some call them people movers, even though transporting people is not their only mission.
Cars like the Ford Tourneo Courier and Fiat Doblo, in fact, are extremely versatile. Their distinctive body shapes and large boot space are important calling cards for those looking for a model designed to fit many uses. Whether for work or leisure, Ford and Fiat offer a rather complete package, even in 100% per cent electric form.
Exterior
At 4.34 m long, 1.87 m wide, and 1.82 m high, the new generation of the Tourneo Courier debuted recently, bringing with it a much squarer style than in the past. The Ford has a muscular look, with a large grille and two-tier headlights. The massive flanks and contrasting roof are joined by a streamlined rear end with vertical lights and a low-loading sill. Load capacity starts at 570 litres and goes up to 2,162 litres.

Fiat E-Doblò
Compared to the Ford, the Fiat has a more traditional look and features a wide front end with a decorative element combining LED headlights. Without too many frills, the sides (which also feature plastic bumper mouldings in some versions), while at the rear we find a large tailgate with separately opening rear window.
Unlike the Tourneo Courier, the Doblò is available in two wheelbase variants. The short-wheelbase model has a wheelbase of 2.79 m and is 4.40 m long, while the long-wheelbase model (called Maxi) measures 2.98 m, for a length of 4.76 m. Height and width are 1.78 m and 1.85 m, respectively. Slightly different measurements for the E-Doblo, the electric version: 4.40 m long, 1.85 m wide, and 1.85 m high.
The load capacity also changes: the minimum is still 800 litres, while the maximum increases from 3,000 to 3,500 litres, depending on the version. The E-Doblo has a volume of between 790 and 3,200 litres and is only available with a short wheelbase.

Interior
The interior of the new Tourneo Courier has been completely redesigned. At the centre of the dashboard is the SYNC 4 multimedia system, which handles navigation, entertainment, and connectivity. Everything is done via an 8.0-inch touch display, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly.
The digital instrument cluster provides all the main vehicle information, while technological features include wireless charging for smartphones, USB ports, and an integrated phone holder in the dashboard.
The Doblò also features a high-tech interior. In the top-of-the-range models, there is a 10-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch touch screen to control the infotainment system. The dashboard is sparsely packed with controls, while there are numerous storage compartments present, just as on the Ford.
