A new DS is on the way. It is the DS8, a fastback flagship with crossover lines that should debut in the course of 2025 and could be produced at the Melfi plant. A new teaser video published by the automaker gives a first glimpse of the shapes and features of this electric model, which promises a breakthrough look and a range of no less than 460 miles.

Won't go unnoticed

DS says the model shown in the video is in the final stage of road testing, having covered over a million kilometres on the test tracks. The prototype is still shrouded in heavy camouflage, but its lines are quite evident. The silhouette is sleek, with a very angular front end and significant ground clearance, giving it a crossover connotation.

The rear is almost coupe-like, while the headlights seem to be a sort of evolution of those seen on the recently restyled DS 7. Speaking of dimensions, we don't have precise figures yet, but it is likely that the car will be longer than 4.70 metres, with a wheelbase of at least 2.8-2.9 metres, suggesting great roominess for rear passengers as well.

Early information

What do you think?

The most important clue about the DS 8, however, is written on the car itself. For this model, the French manufacturer promises a range of 750 km (460 miles), one of the highest of all products offered by Stellantis so far.

Based on the STLA Medium platform (the same as the new Peugeot 3008), the DS could have a 400V architecture and batteries of up to 98 kWh capacity. In addition, electric motors with power outputs of between 217 bhp and 387 bhp each could be installed on this platform, thus also having all-wheel-drive versions.
