2025 Omoda 5: 4x4 version of the affordable Chinese SUV launched
The new Omoda 5 increases its appeal with an AWD version. And it's more powerful, too.
The new Omoda 5 was launched in the UK just recently. The Chinese SUV coupé has carved out a niche for itself in a very short time thanks to its appealing design and its affordable price. In addition, it offers a wide range of standard equipment - and even a surprisingly good pedestrian protection airbag.
With these arguments, the Chinese SUV is up against the Cupra Formentor, Renault Arkana, and the Toyota C-HR. It also has its sights set on the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Nissan Qashqai.
Although the Omoda 5 is a recent product, the brand has changed its powertrain range in Europe. The new entry-level engine (147 bhp/145 bhp depending on the commercial name) is a significant drop from the previous 185 bhp 1.6 TGDI.
However, it is still available with the seven-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic gearbox. There is also an electric version, with 204 bhp and a 61 kWh battery: it has a WLTP range of 267 miles.
As if that weren't enough, there are some new aesthetic touches, such as alloy wheels with a new design. Inside the cabin, a 12.3-inch dual HD screen replaces the previous 10.25-inch displays.

We at Motor1.com want to tell you more about the 2025 Omoda 5. In a previous article, we showed you the hybrid version, which also comes with a CVT.
Today it's the turn of the new Omoda 5 with AWD all-wheel drive. This interesting version is designed to provide greater grip on difficult surfaces and comes with a surprise under the bonnet. The 1.6 TGDI petrol engine is boosted to 197 bhp (290 Nm of maximum torque).
The new 2025 Omoda 5 AWD is already available in many international markets, including Indonesia. There, it is linked to the seven-speed DCT gearbox with six available driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, Sport, Snow, Mud, and Off-road. Will we also see this new version in the United Kingdom?
