Nissan Juke Gets 360-degree Dashcam

Dash-mounted cameras are becoming increasingly common, but Nissan is going one step further with the world's first integrated 360º camera for its Juke SUV.

Called JukeCam, the camera is mounted to the dashboard and records 4K high definition video from every angle. The device can be detached and used on a helmet to capture extreme sports. Extreme sports such as Pogoing.

Xpogo is an extreme pogo team and Nissan invited its members along to use the JukeCam and film their Guinness World Record attempt. Dalton Smith is now the record holder for the prestigious honour of Most Consecutive Cars Jumped Over on a Pogo Stick. Three of the small SUVs were jumped with just a single bounce between each.

 

The JukeCam has been created as a concept to explore what the next generation of dashcams could be capable of.

Dashcams can be used to help car insurers identify who is at fault if you are involved in an accident, and as a result people with dashcams fitted save an average of £57.75 on their car insurance each year. It is this saving that has spurred a 900% increase in sales of this type of camera over the past two years.

Launched alongside the JukeCam concept is a new trim level called the Envy Special Version. Black inserts have been added to the lights, bumpers and alloy wheels, along with contrasting red door mirror and trim, to make the car more distinctive.

The Juke Envy costs from £19,045 and is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel.
