8 Worst Muscle Cars Of The 1980s
The Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro are performance icons. In the early 1980s, the base models couldn't even make 100 hp, though.
There were massive changes in the performance car landscape during the 1980s. The beginning of the decade had the last vestiges of low-horsepower, high-displacement V8 engines that started in the 1970s when automakers had to deal with tighter emissions regulations and customer demands for better fuel economy. These years yielded some of the worst muscle cars ever. Compared to the high point of the late 1960s, fans of American muscle had a rough time until engines started making real power again towards the end of the 1980s.
These are the worst offenders of muscle cars being unworthy of the title during a poor period for American motoring.
