America's Last Toyota Supra Doesn't Get More Power
The Final Edition skips the upgraded BMW engine offered in Europe and Japan.
Update: Toyota has issued a statement regarding the Final Edition Supra's powertrain for the US:
"Vehicle introduction plans by country are determined after considering various factors such as customer requests, road conditions, and regulations in each country. As a result of considering various aspects of the situation globally, it was decided that the A90 Final Edition will be introduced only in Japan and Europe."
We knew this day would come. After Toyota launched the Supra A90 Final Edition in Europe and Japan last November, America is now waving goodbye to the fifth-generation sports car. However, prepare to be disappointed because the US-bound MkV Final Edition is not a carbon copy of the Euro and JDM models. Instead, it’s a watered-down version without any extra power boost. That's right, you're stuck with the 382 Bavarian horses of the regular model.
The 300 cars earmarked for Europe and Japan use a heavily upgraded B58 with 429 hp on tap. Additionally, the turbocharged 3.0-liter BMW engine is massaged to deliver 420 lb-ft, but Americans are stuck with the standard 368 lb-ft output. We’ve asked Toyota why that’s the case, and we will update the article once we hear back. Aside from having the standard inline-six, the Supra MkV Final Edition skips the big rear wing in favor of a carbon fiber ducktail spoiler.
Overall, the Supra’s epilogue for the US is tamed. We also noticed the carbon hood duct and front canards are missing, while the interior doesn’t feature the Recaro bucket seats of the A90 Final Edition. In Toyota’s defense, the last hurrah for the Supra in America does have bigger brakes, a retuned suspension, and additional changes to the chassis and steering. You’re also getting new 19-inch matte wheels and glossy black carbon mirrors.
At an additional cost, the GT4 style pack takes after the GT4 EVO2 race car and brings the choice between two matte finishes: Burnout and Undercover. To sweeten the pot, Toyota adds side graphics, red mirror caps, and a matte look for the ducktail spoiler and rear Supra lettering.
2026 is the last model year for the current-generation Supra, and the first cars will be at dealers this spring. Production at Magna Steyr’s plant in Graz, Austria, will come to an end next spring. Aside from the MkV Final Edition, limited to 1,300 units, the 2026 Supra lineup also includes the usual 3.0 and 3.0 Premium grades with manual and automatic transmissions. Although all images show the special edition with the stick shift, the eight-speed auto is also available. That's not the case for the manual-only A90 Final Edition.

Toyota has pledged to keep the Supra alive, which suggests that a next-gen model is in the works. However, it’s unlikely that the successor will be mechanically related to the Z4 since BMW will pull the plug on its two-seater roadster next year without a direct replacement planned.
