Huawei's mega head-up display improved again
The latest XHUD-AR augmented reality head-up display 'sees' better even at night
As well as making tablets, smart TVs, mobile networks, solar panels and other electronic gadgets, Huawei is now getting into cars, supplying its augmented reality head-up displays to a wide range of 'rival' manufacturers, including SAIC, BAIC, Seres, Changan, Chery, BYD and JAC. Today in China, the company revealed new information about its latest XHUD-AR augmented reality head-up display.
This is another update that will help Huawei consolidate its position as a supplier of high-end head-up displays.
Four years of progress
Huawei first unveiled its augmented reality head-up display at the IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich, Germany. In four years, the system has been improved and the latest version of its head-up display is called XHUD-AR.
The latest enhancement to Huawei's XHUD-AR is real-time rendering. Thanks to the implemented trajectory prediction algorithm, the AR icons adjust their position in real time and the image remains smooth and stable.
According to Car News China, the XHUD-AR offers a wide range of advanced features, including
- Adaptation to night driving conditions;
- Warnings for the presence of vehicles in blind spots;
- Pedestrian detection and warning;
- Real-time indications for lane changes, decelerations and braking;
- Tips for obstacle avoidance manoeuvres.
A growing business
The Chinese multinational is increasingly expanding its activities. In the automotive sector, in addition to the Aito brand, the Avatr 11 and Avatr 12 are the result of a joint venture between Changan, CATL and Huawei.
Huawei is also involved in charging stations with the powerful 600 kW Fusion charger and WeLion solid-state batteries for NIO with Xiaomi.
