Jeep is stepping up the pace on the electric front. By 2025, up to three battery-powered models will be launched including the restyled Compass, which will also continue to be sold with internal combustion engines. The American brand's strategy also includes the Recon and the Wagoneer S. The former is an SUV with a typically off-road look, while the latter is more 'civilised' but extremely powerful, with a 600 PS engine. Here are the new models.

The first teaser for the new Jeep Compass

The new Jeep Compass will be based on the STLA Medium platform, shared with models such as the Peugeot 3008 and 5008. This will enable the new generation to be available in hybrid and 100% electric versions, including all-wheel drive.

Detailed technical specifications have not yet been released, but based on similar models, the range is expected to include a 136 PS 1.2-litre mild hybrid petrol engine, a 195 PS plug-in hybrid and electric versions with 213 PS and 231 PS. The latter should be equipped with a 96.9 kWh battery, with a claimed range of 435 miles.

Based on the Peugeot E-3008, with which it shares a platform, there is even an electric version with all-wheel drive and 326 PS, which would fit in perfectly with the future Compass range.

In terms of design, the only teaser available shows the side of the new Compass, which appears to take up the proportions of the current generation. Production of the new Jeep will start at the Melfi plant in Italy in 2025, and sales could begin in the second half of the year.

It's not the electric Wrangler, but it's close. Announced for 2023, the Jeep Recon will finally be launched in 2025, with a final look that should largely retain the style of the concept. Square lines and an SUV for the Recon, which will be exclusively battery-powered, although no official details have yet been revealed.

It will have a canvas roof and removable doors, like the Wrangler. It should also be equipped with the Select-Terrain system, which allows you to lock the differentials and choose between different driving modes.

At 4.89 metres in length, the Wagoneer S will essentially be the electric alternative to the Grand Cherokee. Based on the STLA Large platform, it will have a maximum power output of 600 PS and 836 Nm and accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, with a range of almost 311 miles according to the American EPA cycle (which is generally more accurate than the WLTP).

What do you think?

The battery will have a capacity of 100 kWh at 400 volts, probably with NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) cells, although no other specifications have yet been released. Known recharge times will take the battery from 5% to 80% in around 28 minutes.

For the rest, we can expect true Jeep performance, with four-wheel drive and driving modes designed for off-roading.
