10 Cars With Completely Carbon Fiber Bodies
Because pure power without a healthy diet is useless.
Every time a manufacturer announces the arrival of a new supercar, normally, the first thing we look at is the power figure. Then, the second most important thing we are interested in is the 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) acceleration. Finally, we take a look at less important factors like aerodynamics, brake distance, etc.
However, all aforementioned number could be completely useless if we miss one crucial component – weight. It is believed that it’s generally more expensive for automakers to reduce the weight of a car by 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram) than to gain 1 horsepower (0.74 kilowatts). One way to achieve a weight reduction is to use carbon fiber for some or all exterior components.
In the next pages, we’ve gathered 10 cars with entirely carbon fiber bodies. We’ve left out some amazing cars, which, surprisingly or not, feature just a number of carbon fiber body components, like the Lancia Delta Futurista, Ford GT, and Mercedes-AMG One. Enjoy!
