The resurrection of the Chevy Blazer nameplate is just the latest example of an automaker taking an off-road-ready, body-on-frame icon and turning it into a crossover that lacks the performance its predecessor became famous for. Truck-based SUVs are a dime-a-dozen now as automakers across the globe move their products to car-based crossovers. While they are often more efficient, lighter, and offer a more comfortable driving experience, crossovers lack the rugged off-road capability of previous SUVs.
