2025 will be the year of the debut of the new Volkswagen T-Roc, one of the most important new models in the coming months. And one of the first steps in the relaunch of the German manufacturer, which is ready to get back on track after reaching an agreement with the trade unions at the end of 2024, with new models to be launched in the coming years.

In fact, nine new models will be added to the company's price lists between now and 2027, as CEO Thomas Schäfer announced at a works meeting in Wolfsburg, Volkswagen's headquarters.

What will come

We do not yet know the identities of all the upcoming models. At the moment, only three are known. It will start with the aforementioned new generation T-Roc, which will retain the SUV look and introduce hybrid engines for the first time.

However, the real turning point will come in 2026 with the unveiling of the Volkswagen ID.2, the sub-25,000 euro small electric car derived from the ID.2all concept. A sort of electric counterpart to the Polo, it will also give rise to a crossover-style version with similar dimensions to the T-Cross. The year 2027 will see the arrival of the Volkswagen ID.1, a low-cost electric city car - rumoured to cost around £17,000 - previewed by a concept whose debut is expected on 5 March 2025.

What do you think?

Instead, the new electric Volkswagen Golf will arrive in 2029, produced at the Wolfsburg plant (which will say goodbye to the combustion Golf in 2027, ready to move to Mexico) and based on the SSP platform, mechanics that will be the basis for all future electric cars of the group, including the electric T-Roc or, rather, a battery-powered equivalent.

At the meeting, Schaefer did indeed make it official that a compact SUV is on the way. Whether it will be called the ID T-Roc or something else, we don't know yet. Nor do we know the year of its debut. The new electric Golf will debut in 2029 and the T-Roc could arrive shortly after. Both models will be built in Wolfsburg.
