The Fiat Grande Panda is ready for production
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic declared that production of the Fiat Grande Panda is ready to start
When will the Fiat Grande Panda go on sale? If we are talking about the UK, there is still no definitive date, although we know that it shouldn't be long now. Meanwhile, according to Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic, the Stellantis plant in Kragujevac is ready to start production.
Meanwhile, many are wondering what the prices will be and all is silent, although the company's top management has spoken of a base price of less than €25,000 (approx. £21,000), a promise that is kept in France as the Fiat Grande Panda starts at €24,900 there. The same most likely holds true for most of Europe as well.
Italian in Serbia
As already mentioned, the Fiat Grande Panda is not produced in Italy but in Serbia, a choice made due to lower labour costs, the key to competitive prices when the car arrives at dealerships. Italy will continue to produce the classic Fiat Panda, which will remain at Pomigliano d'Arco until at least 2030. Other Stellantis models will also be able to fly the tricolour, from the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia to the Lancia Gamma and the new Fiat 500 hybrid.
Coming back to the Grande Panda, we already know practically everything about it. Based on the Stellantis Smart Car platform, it will be sold with either an electric powertrain or a mild hybrid system based on the 1.2-litre three-cylinder 100 PS engine, while the availability of a pure petrol engine remains uncertain. The electric car, on the other hand, will be powered by a 113 PS front-mounted motor fed by a 43.8 kWh battery, for a claimed range of 200 miles.
There will be two trim levels: Red and La Prima. The former comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels, rear parking sensors, manual climate control, a 10.25-inch central monitor compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7 kW charging cable. La Prima adds 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, automatic climate control, satellite navigation and front parking sensors.
