VW Tayron goes on sale in the UK with petrol, diesel, and hybrid power
It sits between the Tiguan and Touareg.
Volkswagen has officially introduced its latest addition to the SUV lineup, the Tayron, now on sale in the UK. Priced from £39,850, this stylishly spacious family hauler promises comfort, tech, and versatility for those who are not ready to go the expensive Touareg way. Positioned snugly between the Tiguan and the Touareg, the Tayron is here to fill that "Goldilocks" SUV gap for buyers looking for a bit of everything.
Measuring 4,792 mm in length, the Tayron is a stretched-out cousin of the Tiguan Allspace. That extra seven centimetres translates to a roomier third row (for those opting for seven seats) and a boot capacity that swallows a whopping 850 litres when the third row is folded flat. Whether you’re carting kids, suitcases, or a small herd of sheep (don’t do that), there’s room to spare.

Need to tow a trailer or a horse box? The Tayron isn’t just for show. With a braked towing capacity of up to 2,400 kg and standard Trailer Assist on models equipped with an optional folding towing bracket, even manoeuvring hefty loads should be easy.
In the UK, buyers can choose from six engine variants, though the full lineup won’t be available until February 2025. For now, the launch options include a 1.5-litre eTSI mild-hybrid engine with 150 PS, as well as two plug-in hybrids offering 204 PS or 272 PS. For those waiting for the 2.0 TSI engines with 4Motion all-wheel drive, February promises additional punch and practicality. A 2.0-litre diesel is also on the cards with 150 PS and a seven-speed DSG transmission.
From the £39,850 entry-level Tayron Life to the fully-loaded R-Line Edition topping £50,000, there’s a version for every budget. A total of five trim levels will be available – Life, Match, Elegance, R-Line, and R-Line Edition. Standard LED headlights, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, and three-zone air conditioning make even the base model feel premium. For those who like to splurge, leather massage seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 700-watt Harman-Kardon sound system await.
Volkswagen's latest SUV is built in Wolfsburg, Germany, but it feels tailor-made for the UK’s family-focused drivers. Whether you're ferrying the kids, hitching a trailer, or just showing off your ChatGPT-enabled ride, the Tayron is ready to hit the road.
