Dacia boss: Duster to be available as a hybrid 4x4 by the end of 2025
It will then have an electrified rear axle, said Denis Le Vot in Brussels
Just recently, a reader asked us whether the new Dacia Bigster was available with hybrid, automatic and all-wheel drive. Unfortunately not, we had to answer. Only with hybrid and automatic or only as 4x4. But not all together. But that could change by the end of the year with the smaller Duster brother.
At Dacia's press conference for the European Car of the Year 2025 awards, where the Duster came fourth, CEO Denis Le Vot confirmed a new technical solution for the all-wheel drive, according to the British magazine Autocar

Le Vot is quoted as follows: "By the end of 2025, we will introduce a new hybrid solution for our 4x4 version. We will electrify the rear axle with an electric motor. The car will be a hybrid with automatic transmission and there will be an LPG version. We will offer it at an affordable price, as is usual with Dacia."
The Duster 4x4 with 130 PS turbocharged petrol engine and manual six-speed gearbox currently starts at £23,550 in the UK. The hybrid with 140 PS costs at least £24,350. The Bigster 4x4 is priced from £24,995, while the slightly more powerful Hybrid 155 starts at £27,045.

According to Autocar, it is very likely that the powertrain will also come in the slightly larger Bigster, which is technically almost identical to the Duster. Le Vot added that an all-electric Duster "will come in due course", but the first electric Dacia after the Spring will be the Sandero in 2027. The Duster will have to wait until its next generation to get an electric powertrain, which will probably be in 2030/31.
Le Vot also confirmed that the new Duster was the number one SUV seller in Europe at the end of November, across all SUV sizes.
