Official: Ineos to restart production in early 2025
The Hambach plant is ready to roll thousands of new Grenadiers.
After a hiccup that sidelined production since September 2024, the rugged Ineos Grenadier and its pickup sibling, the Quartermaster, are revving up for a return in early January 2025. The production halt, triggered by a critical component shortage, believed to be seats from Recaro, sent the Hambach plant in France into an unexpected pit stop. But now, the automotive drama is taking a turn for the better.
Ineos Automotive confirmed in a press release that all systems are ready to go, with their partners on standby like a well-drilled pit crew. Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos, expressed relief at the swift resolution. “It’s great news that a solution has been found so quickly,” Calder remarked. “Automotive supply chains are like intricate puzzles, but we weren’t about to compromise on quality. The best outcome has been achieved, and we’re ready to roll.”
The Grenadier – a chunky, no-nonsense off-roader styled as it could muscle through a brick wall – is apparently hot property. By mid-2024, the manufacturer had already sold as many units as they did in all of 2023. If that doesn’t scream “fan favourite,” what does? Calder also hinted at even bigger ambitions, pointing to booming markets in China, Mexico, and the US, where sales are expected to expand significantly in 2025.
For customers left cooling their heels during the supply chain debacle, Calder offered thanks for their patience. “We’re excited to get back on track and hand over the keys to their Grenadiers as soon as possible,” she said, likely imagining a long line of relieved buyers ready to rumble into the wilderness in style.
Production is back on for Ineos Automotive
The Hambach facility has been churning out Grenadiers, Quartermaster double-cab pickups, and chassis models for customers across five continents. Despite the pause, the plant is set to crank back into action with all the enthusiasm of a 4x4 conquering a muddy trail.
With over 20,000 Grenadiers expected to hit the roads by the end of 2024 and a roaring comeback scheduled for January, Ineos is betting big on 2025 being its breakout year. As long as the component gremlins stay out of the machinery, it looks like this off-road powerhouse is ready to blaze a trail once more.
