Dacia Dokker 2025: The comeback of this low-cost van imagined

Would it have a place in the Dacia range with the Jogger?

I don't know if you remember, but just under a decade ago you could buy a new compact van for less than €9,000. We're talking about the Dacia Dokker, which still serves as the basis for cheap camper van conversions today.

There were both passenger and cargo versions, and the range included the Stepway variant with crossover aesthetics. In the end, Dacia did not continue selling it, leaving it without any representatives in the commercial vehicle segment.

Today, part of the Dokker's role is played by the Jogger, although in this case, it is a passenger car with up to seven seats, which means that it can only cover the needs for passenger transport, but not for cargo.

We have discovered the Dacia Dokker 2025, but don't worry, it is not a real vehicle, just a digital creation. In any case, we thought it would be interesting for you to have a look at it to get your opinion. Would you welcome the return of this vehicle?

The Dokker 2025 has a modern look, especially thanks to the corporate grille, slim headlights and rugged-style bumpers. The attractive alloy wheels, as well as the original lights and the black rear moulding with 'Dacia' lettering, confirm the well thought-out aesthetics.

Of course, it would have sliding side doors and the length would grow to around 4.5 metres to do battle with the Renault Kangoo, Volkswagen Caddy and Ford Tourneo Connect, among many others. If the boot of the old Dokker had a capacity of 800 litres, this figure could grow even more in the hypothetical new model.

Of course, the engines would be taken from Dacia's passenger cars, such as the 100 PS ECO-G bi-fuel block, the 130 PS TCe light hybrid petrol or the 140 PS hybrid powertrain. All of these can be found in the new Duster. Including the new Bigster's powertrains would make the Dokker too expensive, in my view.

Speaking of cost, shall we price this vehicle? The Kango Van is available for just over €18,000 euros, so the cargo Dokker could go down to around €15,000.

What do you think?

For the moment, Dacia is not considering a return to the van segment and that's a shame because it would have a really profitable new line of business. What's more, if it had a mid-size 'van' to convert, like the Sandman, we're convinced it would make money in spades.
