2025 will be an important year for the Lancia brand. After a long absence, it is returning to the European market with the new Ypsilon. Available as a petrol mild hybrid and with a 156 PS electric drive, the Italian luxury small car will be significantly "hotter" in 2025.

The HF has already been announced, the most powerful model to rediscover a historic acronym for the brand. And that's not all: in 2025, we may also learn more about a completely new model series with an old name.

The most powerful Ypsilon is an electric car. It will be equipped with a 280 PS engine and a 54 kWh battery, which enables a sprint from 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds. The technical basis will be very similar to that of the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce and the Abarth 600e, although the range has not yet been officially announced.

Other changes compared to the Lancia base models include lowering, widening of the track and retuning of the steering and suspension. Visually, we will find a number of sporty details, the HF logo, sports seats with integrated headrests and more.

In addition to the road model, the HF will also be offered in a rally version, possibly as early as 2025, to compete in Rally 4, a category reserved for two-wheel drive cars piloted by young drivers.

Unlike the road version, the racing version of the Ypsilon will not be battery-powered, but will have a 1.2 litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine boosted to 212 PS and a manual 5-speed gearbox.

Lancia Gamma

The teaser for the Lancia Gamma

What do you think?

We will have to wait until 2026 for the market launch of the Gamma, but we could receive new information about the flagship to be produced in Melfi as early as 2025. Like the new Vauxhall Grandland or the Peugeot 3008/5008, the Gamma is based on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform and will most likely be an electric car, although this architecture leaves room for the possible use of (mild) hybrid powertrains.

The styling is likely to be a mix of fastback and crossover lines, while the main competitors will be the Audi A5, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Tesla Model 3.
