Ford Maverick Hybrid Covers 600 Miles On One Tank
With over 44 mpg recorded, the Maverick is winning the 'expectations vs reality' contest.
The Ford Maverick has been exceeding expectations since its launch. The truck's affordable $19,995 starting price attracted over 36,000 reservations just a week after its debut. And with the available hybrid powertrain in tow, the Maverick was able to achieve an official EPA rating of 42 mpg in the city, which made it that much more desirable.
Initial estimates projected that with 37 combined mpg and a 13.8-gallon (62.7-liter) fuel tank, the new Maverick Hybrid would be able to cover more than 500 miles (805 kilometers) on one fill-up. But as it turns out, the Maverick Hybrid performs even better in real-world testing.

According to one owner on the Maverick Truck Club forum who goes by the username Mavforever, their Maverick Hybrid hit 595.2 miles with 24 miles left in the tank. They backed up that claim with an accompanying photo of the instrument cluster, indicating over 269 miles of electric range used, resulting in an average fuel efficiency reading of 44.1 mpg.
With these types of numbers, there's reason to believe that the Maverick can easily surpass the 600-mile mark. Members of the forum agree with the claim, touting similar results, which means that the impressive numbers aren't exclusive to one owner.
Of note, the original poster's driving style and road conditions, along with the route of testing, weren't disclosed in the forum post. Still, it's good to know that the compact truck is able to deliver on its promise – and then some. In the game of 'expectations versus reality,' we can say that the Maverick is definitely winning.
This efficiency is of course exclusive to the two-wheel-drive Maverick hybrid. For those who need to run on all paws, the non-hybrid EcoBoost powertrain is the only tool of choice. The EPA rating for the Maverick EcoBoost AWD is significantly lower at 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.
