Is This The New Jeep Renegade?
During Stellantis' Investor Day, the company teased a mysterious Jeep. Could it be the Renegade?
THE BREAKDOWN
- A mysterious Jeep SUV was shown during Stellantis’ 2026 Investor Day and could preview the next Renegade.
- If true, it would have a bold and boxy new design.
- The new Renegade would likely come to the US and Europe.
The Jeep Renegade left the US in 2023 and Europe in 2025, with production at Stellantis’ Melfi plant coming to an end. That leaves Jeep without a real player in one of its most important segments: subcompact SUVs.
There’s a facelifted Renegade on the way for Brazil, but it’s still unclear if—or when—a new generation will show up in the US and Europe. Even so, we may have already seen a small clue about what’s coming next.
At Investor Day 2026, when Stellantis laid out its new strategy, one slide showed a mysterious Jeep model. No name, no specs—just a front three-quarter image. That was enough to spark speculation: could this be the next Renegade?

When Would It Arrive?
That’s the big question. The answer likely traces back to Stellantis' earlier "DareForward" plan, signed off under Carlos Tavares and later replaced by the updated "FaSTLAne 2030" strategy. Under that original roadmap, the next Renegade was expected around 2027. Whether that timing still stands is anyone’s guess.
The presentation itself focused mostly on the Wrangler Scrambler, a mid-size pickup aimed at North America. Still, Jeep has a full lineup of new models planned through 2030, and as a global brand alongside Fiat, Peugeot, and Ram, it’ll continue to cover multiple regions—including Europe, where small SUVs are still in high demand.
So while nothing is confirmed yet, a new Renegade definitely isn’t off the table. For now, 2027 still feels like a reasonable bet.

What It Could Look Like
The SUV shown in the presentation clearly leans heavily on concept-car styling—big wheels, bold lighting, and details that probably won’t make it to production unchanged. But if this really is the next Renegade, the overall shape is what matters most.
It looks chunky, upright, and boxy, staying true to the current design language while modernizing it. Think of it as an evolution rather than a reinvention.
Like the 2026 Compass and Avenger, the top section of the seven-slot grille appears to be illuminated, with thin light signatures stretching outward. The nose sits high, and there’s a skid plate underneath that hints at real off-road intent. Down the sides, the design feels similar to the Compass, while the rear drops off almost vertically for a more rugged stance.
One thing that does seem certain is the platform. The next Renegade is expected to ride on Stellantis’ STLA One architecture, which will support mild-hybrid, full-hybrid, and fully electric versions.
Motor1's Take: If this really is the next Renegade, it could be a bold new look for the compact SUV. With the new Compass on the way, Jeep needs something that will stand out in the subcompact space—and this could do it.
