'Where Did They Even Pull This From?’: Audi Driver Gets Loaner From Dealership. Then He Sees Them Pull Around
'That’s an employee’s personal car.'
A content creator is going viral on TikTok after showing viewers the loaner car he says Audi gave him while his own vehicle was being serviced, and he was clearly not impressed.
Khari Nasir (@kharinasir) filmed the video while walking out of Rite Aid, telling viewers he was "so mad" about the car waiting for him outside.
Instead of another Audi, Nasir says the dealership handed him a 2011 Ford Focus with more than 105,000 miles.
"Where did they even pull this from?" he asks.
Nasir walked viewers around the car while pointing out everything he disliked about it. He complained about the cloth seats, said the buttons on the key were so faded he "couldn’t even read" them, and seemed especially stunned by the mileage.
He did admit there was at least one upside, though: "The wheels clean."
Nasir said the dealership offered to reimburse him if he rented his own car instead, but he didn’t want to pay out of pocket upfront and wait to get reimbursed later.
According to Nasir, dealership employees even acknowledged the loaner didn’t exactly match the kind of car he normally drives. He says he arrived at the dealership in a newer Audi sports car before being handed the aging Focus.
"Where the hell did y’all get this Ford Focus from? This is crazy, y’all," Nasir says. As of this writing, his video has generated more than 83,600 views.
Why Loaner Cars Can Feel Like A Downgrade
Turns out, according to several other drivers, getting a loaner car that feels like a downgrade from your actual vehicle is somewhat common, even at luxury dealerships.
Most service departments aren’t trying to hand customers a replica of what they drive day-to-day, but something that will keep them on the road while their car is getting repaired.
That said, Nasir’s frustration seemed to stem less from the fact that it was a Ford Focus and more from the car’s condition and age. According to Subaru, dealership loaners are usually newer models with relatively low mileage.
Loaner fleets also tend to take a beating because they’re constantly rotating between customers. Even well-maintained cars can develop blemishes or have high mileage after years of heavy use.
As some say they have found out the hard way, dealerships are not necessarily required to provide customers with a luxury replacement vehicle unless it’s specifically included in a warranty agreement, lease package, or service contract. That means, in many cases, the loaner is more of a courtesy than a guaranteed perk.
Customers who are unhappy with the vehicle they’re given can usually ask whether another option is available.
Viewers Question Why Audi Driver Got Older Ford Focus As A Loaner
Commenters who watched Nasir’s video sounded just as stunned as he was that an Audi customer ended up in a decade-old Ford Focus with more than 100,000 miles on it.
"They played in your face," one viewer joked.
"They pulled that from the crypt," another person wrote.
"That’s so you appreciate your Audi," a third commenter added.
"Ain’t no way they renting out a 2011," another viewer remarked alongside a crying-laughing emoji.
Some viewers speculated the Focus may not have actually belonged to Audi’s official loaner fleet at all.
"That’s 100% an employee car," one commenter suggested.
"That’s an employee’s personal car," another person echoed.
"Bruh, that’s the mechanic’s car," a third viewer joked.
Others guessed the car may have been recently traded in at the dealership before somehow ending up as Nasir’s temporary ride.
"100% that was a trade-in lol," one person speculated.
"Someone traded that in last week and got, like, $1,000 off," another viewer wrote.
Motor1 has reached out to Nasir via direct message on TikTok and to Audi through email. We’ll update this story if we hear back.
