A man goes into the Lexus dealership where he gets his vehicle serviced for lunch five weeks in a row. The internet is divided over whether this is a useful life hack or a threat to the continued existence of free waiting room amenities.

TikTok user @carsandkeyspicy posted a video with his revelation on Saturday. “I think it’s the fifth week now that I’ve come to the Lexus dealership for lunch,” he says to start the video.

The video goes into hyper speed as the TikToker walks into the dealership, checks out the ice cream cooler, heads into the kitchen, and grabs two slices of Pizza Hut pizza. He then takes a “fancy” glass before heading into the fridge and grabbing a can of Coca-Cola.

He’s not done, either. He heads over to the snack section and grabs his dessert: A bag of Welch’s fruit snacks, a Rice Krispies treat, a bag of mini Oreos, and a bag of Doritos. The TikToker then cracks open his Coke and pours it into the glass before finally taking a bite of his pizza. “So good,” he says.

In the caption, @carsandkeyspicy writes, “I pay enough in service to come every week, but I do appreciate it.”

Viewers Express a Mix of Admiration and Disapproval

In the comments section, viewers weighed in on whether this is a genius-level budget hack or a threat to the continued existence of free perks at the car dealership.

One user said, “They roll their eyes every time he walks in.”

A second person agreed, “This is why we can’t have nice things.”

Someone else said they know someone who also employs this strategy. “My mom walks in Mercedes like she owns it and gets her daily Starbucks,” they wrote.

Another person said, “Great marketing for Lexus. I bet they love your videos.”

Can You Go to the Car Dealership for Free Lunch?

Car dealerships across the country frequently offer amenities to customers waiting while their vehicles are being worked on in the service center. Those perks usually include things like Wi-Fi access, beverages like coffee and tea, and TV or reading material. They’re designed to keep customers happy and coming back to the same place every time they want to buy or service a car.

Of course, the quality of the amenities will depend on the dealership you visit. Some dealerships offer even more high-value amenities than the standard coffee and Wi-Fi, which don’t generally sway car-buying decisions.

What do you think?

When it comes to the guest experience, Lexus aims to differentiate itself by treating customers “like we’d treat a guest in our own home.” Amenities vary by dealership, but include guest lounges, LexusCare, complimentary car washes, and loaner vehicles. A select number of dealerships are also considered the “elite of Lexus dealers,” which are considered the best when it comes to guest services.

Update July 5: "I wasn't expecting to hit this many views," @carsandkeyspicy told Motor1 via TikTok direct message. "It's interesting the people who think it's stealing. The dealership is aware I come make videos. They gifted me a Yeti cup last time because they appreciate me spreading the good word."
