Watch Lewis Hamilton Take a Day Off, Ferris Bueller Style
Hamilton inserted himself into the iconic Ferrari scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Lewis Hamilton starts his first race in a Ferrari this weekend after 12 seasons with Mercedes-Benz. Since he's wearing red, Hamilton is having some fun with it. To celebrate joining Ferrari, Hamilton recreated a scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which he admits was one of his favorite movies since he was a kid.
But Hamilton did more than just re-shoot the scene with new actors. He inserted himself into the original with seamless editing, taking on the role of one of the garage attendants that takes the iconic 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder for a joyride.
Hamilton posted the video to his Instagram, saying in the caption, "This is to pay homage to the iconic film and to celebrate my first season with Ferrari." He also revealed that he got the exact same car, too. The movie used three replica Ferraris, one of which was destroyed during filming.
Edward Norton even makes an appearance at the end, joyriding with Hamilton before they return to the garage to hand it back to Bueller and company. It’s a perfect recreation, with Hamilton hitting his marks while looking thoroughly happy playing the part.
We hope his season of wearing Ferrari red will be equally enjoyable.
