New Jeep Compass begins to show itself

The first official images of the new Jeep Compass, expected to debut in 2025, appear in a technology video

The new Jeep Compass is getting closer and closer and we know it will debut later this year, although there is no exact date yet. It should be unveiled in November and in the meantime Stellantis is starting to drop hints here and there. After the first sketch published in October 2024, here are new images showing the new generation of the compact SUV.

It all happens in the video 'TechTalks with Ned Curic: Ep.1 - AI', where the Group's Head of Engineering and Technology talks about how artificial intelligence is transforming the automotive industry. And at minute 1:20, the new Jeep Compass 2025 is revealed.

A matter of kinship

These are technical drawings on engineers' computers, so who knows what aesthetic characteristics the new Compass will have. But we can see what its proportions will be and how it will differ from the Peugeot 3008.

Why the French SUV? That's easy: both models share the Stellantis STLA Medium platform. But there's more. After just a few images, the design of the 3008 appears, and soon it becomes a Compass, with changes to the wheel arches, the roof and some of the side panels. It shows what does and does not change between the two SUVs.

A close relationship that is hardly surprising: practically every car group shares some elements (aesthetic and mechanical) between different models, while customising others. It's an economy of scale.

What you can see

Beyond the points of contact between the Compass 2025 and the 3008, the new American SUV - which will be produced in Italy at the Melfi plant - appears to have vertical side panels, typical of the brand and inspired by the off-road world. The front end is also exquisitely Jeep, with its seven slits and squared-off wheel arches.

The technical drawings also reveal the weight of the new Jeep Compass. In fact, at minute 1:26 you can see the inscription J4U (codename for the third generation of the compact SUV) BEV mass: 2,470 kg. Compared to the electric version, this is not an insignificant mass.

As we have known for some time, the Compass 2025 will be available with different powertrains: mild hybrid and 100% electric, just like the other models based on the STLA Medium. It will probably use the same ones already seen on the Peugeot 3008, although it could also adopt specific solutions to maximise off-road performance.
