Buying a motorhome on the cheap is no easy task these days. The same goes for campervans, which are often not as spacious or well-equipped as their 'big sisters'.

How much does a new motorhome cost these days? Well, to be honest, it's hard to find one for less than €70,000 (approx. £60,000). But that's where Maxus comes in, a brand you're probably familiar with. After all, if we have recently analysed one of its curious cheap campers, you are probably familiar with some of the models that the Chinese brand already sells in Europe, such as the Mifa 9 or the Maxus T90 EV electric pick-up.

However, if the brand has made a name for itself among enthusiasts in the sector, it has done so by offering two models that we have dared to call the Chinese California and the Chinese Grand California, because they compete directly with the two Volkswagen models, with the advantage of being available at a low price.

Well-equipped Chinese motorhome at a good price

Without changing the focus, today we are going to talk about another model that Maxus offers in China and which would certainly work well in Europe, as it is a large, well equipped motorhome that sleeps six, making it a good value option for families and groups of friends.

In fact, we would love to see it come to the UK, as, although its price would be a little higher in our market, the 439,800 yuan it costs in its local market, 57,902 euros at the current exchange rate, is an irresistible figure.

Looking at Maxus' Chinese website, this V90 conversion, called Classic Lifestyle, is 5.99 metres long, has rear-wheel drive and is available in a six-seater configuration, with room for all of them to sleep on board.

On the mechanical side, it is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre SAIC turbo-diesel engine that produces 177 PS and 420 Nm of maximum torque. In all cases, it is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission from specialist ZF.

What do you think?

Inside, it offers everything you need to travel in any season: stationary heating, air conditioning, living room, full kitchen and bathroom, solar panels for self-sufficient electricity.

The cabin also features a 12.3-inch multimedia screen and navigation system, voice control and keyless start, while safety features include tyre pressure monitoring and Bosch ESP 9.3.
