Mitsubishi Outlander: Dimensions and boot space of the plug-in hybrid SUV
All new for 2024, it is still a PHEV and just over 4.72 metres long. The boot is slightly smaller than the segment's average, though.
- Length: 4,719 mm
- Width: 1,862 mm
- Height: 1,750 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,704 mm
- Luggage compartment: min. 495/1,422 litres (PHEV, the only version available in Europe)
The Mitsubishi Outlander was one of the first cars to be offered with plug-in hybrid power on the European market. A formula that has remained unchanged to this day with the arrival of the new generation, which won't be available in the United Kingdom.
On sale on the Old continent from autumn 2024, it has clear-cut exterior lines and chunky forms, in typical Japanese style with an eye on the US market. In terms of dimensions, it falls into the SUV D segment with a length of around 4.70 metres. However, the boot is slightly smaller than the average boot for the segment. Here's how big it really is.
The dimensions
The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander is 4.72 metres long, 1.86 metres wide, and 1.75 metres high, numbers that make it perfectly in line with its competitors in the same segment, compared to which, however, it has a slightly less generous wheelbase of just over 2.70 metres.
Space and boot capacity
Despite the non-record-breaking wheelbase, the cabin of the new Mitsubishi Outlander is very spacious and roomy for five people and their luggage. Speaking of cargo volume, as usual, the presence of the rechargeable hybrid powertrain - with an impressive 22.7 kWh battery - didn't allow Mitsubishi engineers to obtain record-breaking space behind the second row of seats: 495 litres of minimum capacity, a value that, if the rear seats are folded down in a 40:20:40 layout, can rise to 1,422 litres.
Similarly dimensioned competitors
The new Mitsubishi Outlander fits into the D-segment of SUVs, which also includes 7-seat models with similar dimensions. Its direct competitors, with lengths between 4.70 and 4.80 metres, include some of the best-selling models of recent years, such as:
| Model | Length | Luggage compartment |
| Nissan X-Trail | 4.68 metres | 585 litres |
| Renault Espace | 4.72 metres | 581 litres |
| Seat Tarraco | 4.74 metres | 760 litres |
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4.75 metres | 845 litres |
| Volkswagen Tayron | 4.77 metres | 705 litres (PHEV version) |
