New Bentley Continental GT 2024, official debut in Rome
The grand tourer takes centre stage at the MAXXI museum. On the occasion, Bentley Roma celebrates one year of activity
For some, a beautiful car is to all intents and purposes a work of art. That's how it is for me too, and so I found the setting of the MAXXI in Rome, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts, perfect for the Roman presentation of the new Bentley Continental GT.
The model that has marked Bentley's modern history is now in its fourth generation and, on the occasion of its presentation in the heart of the capital, Bentley Roma celebrated one year in business.
Results beyond expectations for Bentley Roma
Opened in September 2023, the show is the fourth in Italy after Milan, Padua and Florence). The Bentley Roma facility is part of the IWR Group (the former Italwagen) and is located on Via della Magliana, behind the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, also known as the 'Square Colosseum'.
"With the new Bentley Continental GT we celebrate the beginning of a new historical period," said Valentina De Paolis, managing director of Bentley Roma and the IWR Automotive Group. "The farewell to the legendary 12-cylinder engine, first introduced in 2003 on the Continental GT, represents a turning point towards the hybrid and a future in line with the Beyond100 strategy, which will lead Bentley to be a world leader in sustainable luxury mobility."
De Paolis also emphasised the change in the direction of the IWR Automotive group, with a focus now exclusively on premium and luxury brands. A choice reinforced by the results achieved, with 16 Bentley cars sold in the first year alone.

The new Continental GT introduces a powerful hybrid system that makes it the most powerful road-going Bentley ever built. The 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, flanked by a plug-in electric unit, delivers 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, enabling 0-62 mph acceleration in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph. The 25.9 kWh battery provides an electric range of up to 50 miles.

At the same time as the coupé, the GTC, the cabriolet version, was also presented. The news, for the Crewe-based manufacturer, however, is not over yet. The board has just announced the Beyond100 programme+ and anticipated what will be the nature of the Winged B's first electric car, i.e. a relatively compact SUV with the ambition of attracting a new customer base.
