2014 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki has released images of the production-ready Ciaz (Indian-spec) which will go on sale next month.

At the Auto Shanghai last year, Suzuki impressed with its appealing Authentics concept which previewed a C-segment sedan. Making the transition to a production version, the Ciaz seen here looks considerably toned down but still a worthy adversary to the Honda City. The vehicle is 4490mm long, 1730mm wide and 1485mm tall, with a 2650mm wheelbase so its dimensions are quite generous for this segment.

It sits on multi-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels and has a 510-liter spacious trunk while weight stands at 1,010 kg for the gasoline model and 1,105 kg for the diesel. Speaking of motors, there's a 4-cylinder 1.4-liter with 91 bhp (68 kW) and 130 Nm (96 lb-ft) along with a Fiat MultiJet 4-cylinder 1.3-liter diesel rated at 89 bhp (66 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque.

What do you think?

The 2014 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be offered with an extensive equipment list including automatic climate control, keyless start, rear AC vents, six speakers, touchscreen with navigation, as well as a rear power socket and electric trunk release. Other goodies include reversing camera + parking sensors, leather upholstery, auto-dimming rear view mirror, projector headlamps and support for USB/AUX/Bluetooth.

Available on order starting tomorrow, the Ciaz will effectively go on sale in India by mid-October.
