Nissan will be introducing the Leaf NISMO RC (Racing Competition) electric race car concept at the New York auto show this week.
The Leaf NISMO RC features an 80 kW (107 bhp / 109 PS) electric motor (AC synchronous) with 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque. An 80 percent charge takes 30 minutes using a quick-charge port, which should make for some pretty lackadaisical pit stops during race competitions.
The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes just 6.85 seconds and top speed is 150 km/h (93 mph).
The Nissan Leaf NISMO RC features a shorter wheelbase and is longer and wider than the production Leaf. It also stands around 33 cm shorter, making the body shell of this racer substantially different from the model upon which it is based.
"The Nissan LEAF NISMO RC will serve as a rolling laboratory for the accelerated development of EV and aerodynamic systems, as well as a platform for the development of new green motorsports series," said Nissan Americas Chairman Carlos Tavares at the New York auto show press briefing.
