The new Toyota GT-86 is measuring up to be an exciting car and as a result, You Tube's DRIVE channel test car specialist Chris Harris went out of his way to get just 20 minutes of seat time.
Held at a media drive event at Jarama Circuit just outside of Madrid Spain, Harris devises a six point plan for extracting the best experience possible from the limited amount of time.
Although Harris' crafty plan is the main focus for the first few minutes, and we don't see any action until four minutes in, we still come away with an entertaining "behind the scenes" account of the media event. But that's not all, Harris makes it worth our while as he uncovers a previously unknown piece of information about the GT-86.
After identifying - by his shoes - GT-86 Chief Engineer, Tetsuya Tada, Harris gets him to reveal that the GT-86 will offer an optional mechanical differential instead of the standard torsen (torque sensitive) diff. The mechanical diff will be the preferred choice for drifters and racers alike.
But onto the meat and potatoes, Harris gives us a thorough 6 minute evaluation while flogging the GT-86 on track and then wraps things up with a closing conclusion.
The video is a bit longer (10 minutes) than you're typical YouTube promo, but it's a quality production and well worth it. So set aside the time and enjoy. And if you like what you see, go ahead and subscribe to the DRIVE channel.
