'The Transaction Was Supposed To Be Really Quick’: Woman Buys Audi After 4 Hours. Then The Salesman Asks Her Something Shocking
"They knew nothing about it."
A California woman was outraged over her car-buying experience at an Audi dealership. Here’s what happened and why she is so upset by it.
Ashly Guardino (@ashlyguardino) recently posted a video detailing her complaints on TikTok. According to Guardino, she purchased a vehicle from Audi Riverside in Riverside, California, in January.
Due to the fact that she wasn’t financing, Guardino says she expected the transaction to be “really quick.” Instead, she claims it took four hours.
Why Did It Take 4 Hours To Buy An Audi?
Guardino reveals her issue is with the salesperson she says she worked with, Matt. In her opinion, the transaction took as long as it did because Matt was “lagging” in an effort to spend more time with her.
How does she know that? Well, she says that when he asked for her insurance information, he told her to send it to a specific phone number. After she sent it, she says, he revealed that it was his personal number.
“You probably should’ve told me before I did that,” she recalls saying. “Red flag.”
That wasn’t the only issue, she says. Matt also allegedly asked about her workout routine and the gym where she typically works out. She now regrets telling him the name and location.
Then came the time to deal with Guardino’s previous vehicle, which she decided to leave at the dealership parked on the street.
How Did the Salesman Allegedly Handle Her Old Vehicle?
She says Matt told her he was going to park her car in a lot behind Audi. Then, after she drove off, she says she got a text from him calling her “sexy,” which she thought was extremely weird. Then he allegedly texted her about driving her vehicle and about her gym.
“I responded to him, ‘This is making me very uncomfortable. I did not give you my number to ask me out. This was supposed to be a transaction between a salesman and a buyer. You’re making me uncomfortable; don’t text me again,’” Guardino says.
“And he responds, again crossing my boundaries after I stated ‘don’t do that,’ about how he couldn’t help himself because I’m attractive and he apologized,” she adds. “A few hours went by and he said he was going to move my car from the lot back to the street.”
Woman Decides To Escalate The Issue To Audi
After contemplating what happened, Guardino says she realized Matt had her phone number, her address, and the name of her gym. “It was weird,” she says. “I call Audi, and the first thing on the recording says, ‘We respect your privacy. Please go to our website and check our privacy policy.’ This is a huge violation of my privacy.”
She says she heard from the dealership and was told that management would conduct an internal investigation. “An internal investigation does not reassure me whatsoever,” she says.
Reached via phone by Motor1, management at Audi Riverside declined to comment.
The story took a sharp twist when she said that a month later, the police knocked on her door. Apparently, the car she left at Audi was later involved in a robbery, she says.
“I called Audi; they knew nothing about it,” she says. “They never called me.”
It’s unclear whether Guardino officially transferred the vehicle title to Audi, but if she did, she is more than likely shielded from liability arising from the alleged robbery. Of course, this is why it’s very important to keep proper records, in particular a bill of sale after selling a vehicle.
Motor1 contacted Guardino via TikTok comment and direct message for comment. We'll update this if she responds.
