2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Revealed: Next-Gen V8 Makes 535 HP
The Grand Sport X hybrid with 721 horsepower replaces the Corvette E-Ray.
THE BREAKDOWN:
- The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is back for 2027.
- It launches with General Motors’ next-generation LS6 V8 engine that makes 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque.
- The 721-horsepower Grand Sport X replaces the E-Ray while packing a new hybrid powertrain.
The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is back for 2027. The automaker teased the model earlier this month, but now we have nearly all the details.
Powering the Corvette Grand Sport will be General Motors’ next-generation V8 engine, the LS6. The naturally aspirated 6.7-liter V8 produces 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque, and it will become the standard engine in the 2027 Stingray, too.
Chevrolet says the LS6 has forged pistons and rods, revised exhaust manifolds, and a new lubrication system. It has a 13.0:1 compression ratio, a 95-millimeter throttle body, and a “tunnel ram intake.”
The engine pairs with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Gand Sport comes standard with Magnetic Ride Control, a touring suspension, and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. The automaker provided no performance stats for the new Corvette. Chevy will also offer the car with an optional center-exit exhaust.
The available Z52 Performance Package adds Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires, high-performance iron brakes from the Z06. The Z52 Track Pack adds carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon-fiber splitter, dive planes, underbody strakes, the upgraded exhaust, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.
New Grand Sport X Hybrid Surpasses Z06
Chevrolet is also launching the Grand Sport X for 2027, which replaces the E-Ray. The GSX features the new LS6 engine, which Chevy pairs with a front-axle electric motor and battery from the Corvette ZR1X, producing 186 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque.
The combined output is 721 hp, surpassing the E-Ray by 66 hp. The GSX is also more powerful than the Z06, which has a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 producing 670 hp. The X will also represent models that have eAWD, like the ZR1X.
The GSX comes standard with Magnetic Ride Control, carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. The Performance Pack adds Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Chevy will also offer a Grand Sport Launch Edition featuring a Santorini Blue interior and red contrast stitching. It will have embossed headrests, a speaker plaque, and a steering wheel badge.
The automaker doesn’t say when the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport will go on sale, but it should begin arriving at dealers this summer. Pricing also remains a mystery.
The Grand Sport sits between the entry-level Stingray, which starts at just over $70,000 for 2026, and the $121,000 Z06. The 2026 E-Ray starts around $110,000, so the new Grand Sport could start in the $90,000 range.
We will have more details closer to its on-sale date.

Motor1's Take: It's nice to see the Corvette Grand Sport back, giving buyers Z06-level goodies for less. But we are most excited for the Grand Sport X, which has more power than the Z06 and has us wondering if we will see an updated version very soon.
