Zenvo's Next Hypercar Might Have an Even Better Engine: 'We're Already Working on a V-10'
And no, it won’t be hybridized.
Zenvo's quad-turbocharged, V-12-powered Aurora hypercar hits the road soon. We caught a glimpse of the near-production body last year in Monterey, and this year at Goodwood, the company ran final prototypes of its upcoming hypercar up the iconic hillclimb.
But that's not all Zenvo has planned.
Last year, the Danish supercar maker confirmed to Motor1 that it was working on a smaller 'junior hypercar' that would sit just beneath the Aurora. This year, Zenvo reiterated those plans, telling Top Gear that its ‘junior hypercar' is still in the works—and that it will have a very unique engine: A V-10.
"We're already working on a V-10 version for our junior hypercar," Chairman Jens Sverdrup told Top Gear.
The V-12 underhood of the Aurora is a "modular engine," Sverdrup says, which means it can function in eight-, 10-, and even six-cylinder configurations. Better yet, Sverdrup confirmed that the engine "doesn't have to be a hybrid" like the larger Aurora. He says:
'The engine was designed from day one with future-proofing in mind, so it can be naturally aspirated, it can of course run as a non-hybrid too if need be. Emissions are the real issue, though. I think it will be tough to meet the next set of requirements without running a hybrid system.'
When Zenvo spoke to Motor1 last year in Monterey, the company said that the same monocoque chassis from the Aurora would also be used in this smaller hypercar. "We can use the monocoque for other projects," noted Head of Zenvo Design Christian Brandt.
But before Zenvo even thinks about getting its baby hypercar on the road, the company is focused on bringing the halo Aurora to life. The 1,850-horsepower hypercar officially goes into production next year, with 50 examples of the road-focused Tur trim planned, alongside 50 examples of the track-capable Agil model.
The Zenvo Aurora is estimated to start at around $2.8 million.
