‘If He Acts Like That From Rejection in Public…:' Female Motorcyclist Gets Hit on by Man at a Gas Station. Then She Rejects Him
"100 men vs. rejection."
A female motorcyclist was minding her own business at the gas pump when she was approached by a random man. When she declined to give him her phone number, his reaction was violent.
Social media influencer Jasmin (@jsmnzxr) is a motorcyclist who posts videos of her rides online. She has over 1 million followers on both Instagram and TikTok.
Recently, she was accosted while at a gas station refueling her BMW S1000RR. She caught the incident on camera and posted it to TIkTok on July 4. It has since amassed more than 19 million views.
The video shows Jasmin parked at the pump when she is approached by a man who introduces himself as John and asks for her phone number.
Jasmin replies that she doesn’t give out her phone number, and offers her Instagram handle instead. That apparently upsets the man, because he dumps a bottle of water in Jasmin’s face.
‘100 Men vs. Rejection’
In the caption, Jasmin writes, “Being a biker girl isn’t for the weak.” The comments section agreed, with many viewers blasting the man’s behavior.
“If he acts like that from rejection in public, imagine how he acts behind closed doors,” one person wrote.
“100 men vs rejection,” wrote a second, referencing a popular meme about 100 men versus a gorilla. That meme has since expanded to include 100 men versus a variety of animals.
“Male loneliness epidemic… huh… wonder why,” wrote a third.
Someone else said, “Thanks for demonstrating WHY SHE DOESN’T GIVE OUT HER NUMBER!!!”
Several other people said Jasmin should’ve reported the incident to the authorities. “You could’ve gotten him arrested for that,” wrote one person. “That’s assault.”
A second agreed. “As someone who works at a gas station PLEASE tell the clerk,” they wrote. “We will get you the footage and help you file a report.”
Is Throwing Water on Someone Considered Assault?
This incident likely qualifies as assault and battery. That’s because John physically attacked her (battery), albeit with water, and put her in reasonable fear of an attack (assault).
In Tennessee, for instance, knowingly causing another person to “reasonably fear imminent bodily injury” or knowingly causing “physical contact with another and a reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative” is considered assault under the law.
Injury attorney Clay Payne explained in a 2023 TikTok video that throwing a drink and spitting on someone are both considered assault in Texas.
“It’s still assault even if the drink or liquid doesn’t hurt the other person,” Payne says. “Any harmful or offensive contact will qualify.”
Because the water clearly touches her, the incident would probably also meet the legal definition of battery.
The Male Loneliness Epidemic?
According to new data from Pew Research Centers, men and women are experiencing loneliness at about the same rates. So why is the internet full of blogs, podcasts, and videos freaking out about the male loneliness epidemic?
One Redditor who is a self-described man in his early 30s posits that it has more to do with how men engage with the world.
“The men who actually go out into the world with an open mind and a willingness to engage—rather than just seeking validation—don’t seem to be the ones complaining about loneliness,” he wrote.
Motor1 reached out to Jasmin via TikTok comment and direct message. We’ll update this post if she responds.
