VW accelerates electric car development with new platform
Volkswagen chooses digital platform from French Dassault Systemes to quickly design software-oriented cars
To be successful with the electric car, you have to focus on state-of-the-art software and fast development times. Volkswagen has understood this, and if it has formed a strategic partnership with Rivian for the first aspect, it has allied itself with Dassault Systemes for the second.
This is a French software company that has developed a digital platform called 3DExperience, designed to speed up the design and development of new-generation cars.
New cars require new procedures
The signing of the agreement was announced by Dassault CFO Rouven Bergmann, who made the announcement during a meeting with investors.
"Volkswagen has chosen our technology to standardise all design and production processes across the group to accelerate time-to-market and the transition to software-based car design". What exactly are we talking about?
The important thing is to collaborate
The 3DExperience platform, also known as 3DX, is designed to provide an overview of the entire business ecosystem. It connects people, ideas, data and solutions in real time in a single collaborative environment that adapts to the needs of start-ups and large corporations like Volkswagen.
Electric cars of the future will come from the Trinity project
The advantage is that this platform can be used to analyse incoming data to improve the activities of individual teams and the coordination between them. By using the cloud to distribute information, it is also possible to analyse and manage departments located in different parts of the world.
One of the most interesting features is that anyone can propose solutions to problems or improvements in efficiency, which are analysed by the system and other stakeholders in order to promote the continuous evolution of the company's activities, whether in the automotive sector or not.
