In Valfenera d'Asti, Piedmont, Automobili Mignatta is building a new handcrafted two-seater speedster called Rina. At the moment, teasers can be seen, while it will be fully unveiled on 8 May.

Rina is a car that is 'proudly linked to the territory of Piedmont, a region where many milestones of the international automotive industry have been born', explains Josè Mignatta, founder of Automobili Mignatta. It is a bespoke car designed to attack the curves of the hills of Monferrato, Langhe and Roero, while enjoying the extraordinary landscapes of Piedmont. Rina is an excellence of this land and will be equipped with a powerful V8 combustion engine, in compliance with environmental regulations. This engine offers strong sensations and a unique and unmistakable soundtrack. The company's aim is to produce 30 cars a year, at a price that has not been disclosed.

Retro design

Rina's design echoes the lines of 1960s cars: the bonnet is long, the wings muscular and the rear end set back. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre in the monocoque, bodywork and many other components, the car has an extremely low dry weight of around 1,000 kg.

Special attention has also been paid to the driving position. For optimum ergonomics, the driver and passenger seats are moulded directly into the carbon-fibre monocoque. There is also no infotainment system or car radio in this speedster. Electronic components are essential because the focus is on the emotion of driving.
