BMW M3 CS Touring will arrive very soon
BMW shows the first photos of the M3 CS Touring, the lightened version with 550 hp. It should be unveiled in the coming weeks
An even more special BMW M3 Touring is on the way. This is the CS, the lighter and even meaner variant of the Bavarian estate, which has been anticipated by the first official teasers.
After months of spy shots, the first images of this version have been published on the BMW M Instagram page. The body is still completely camouflaged in black and white, but the announcement itself suggests that the unveiling is very close indeed.
Slimming treatment
Judging from the photos, the most obvious differences from the conventional M3 Touring will be at the front, with the presence of an even more aggressive splitter, most likely made of carbon fibre. The impression is that BMW has also revised the layout of the air intakes, not only for aesthetic reasons, but also functionally to improve the air supply to the engine.
In keeping with the tradition of CS models, we expect various interventions to reduce the overall weight of the car by a few dozen kilograms. It is easy to imagine a carbon-fibre bumper and spoiler, as well as lightened alloy wheels and new sports seats. In addition, it is possible that the cabin will feature fewer sound-absorbing materials and new exclusive dashboard upholstery.
A supercar like few (and for few)
As for the engine, BMW's twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder will be upgraded, with a final value that could reach 550 PS and 650 Nm. With this major upgrade, the 0-62 mph sprint should drop to 3.4 seconds, while the top speed could exceed 186 mph.
However, the M3 CS Touring may not be for everyone. Apart from the price (which could rise to at least £140,000-£150,000), BMW blog has speculated in recent months that the model could be produced in a limited run of 2,000 units worldwide. In short, an estate for fast dads and collectors.
