The Audi Q7 will be all-new in 2026 - here's a preview

We take a look at the future Q7 thanks to our render. More powerful plug-in hybrid engines and a completely new look planned

Audi is working on a new Q7. This is confirmed by some spy photos of prototypes spotted in Scandinavia in recent weeks, as the German carmaker prepares to completely revamp its flagship SUV 10 years after the launch of the current model (later updated in 2019 and early 2024).

The new generation could be completely different not only cosmetically, but also in terms of on-board technology and engines. Expected in 2026, it could look like this.

Sharp and imposing

Our render tries to give the new Q7 a 'face'. Judging by the spy photos, the future Audi will have a striking front end, characterised by a wide single-frame grille and slim, split LED headlights, the upper ones - in all likelihood - with illuminated graphics that can be customised directly from the infotainment system.

In terms of dimensions, the Q7 could grow a few centimetres and thus exceed the current 5.07 m length, as well as having a width close to 2 metres and a height of around 1.73 m. Otherwise, we also expect an integrated LED light bar in the tailgate and door handles flush with the bodywork to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

As in the past, there should be some aesthetic differences between the base and S trims, with the latter recognisable by a slightly lowered stance, gloss black trim, exposed exhausts and specific bumpers.

Interior and engines

In terms of on-board technology, Audi could adopt the Digital Stage seen on the Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron, consisting of the 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.5-inch central display and third 11-inch passenger monitor. It cannot be ruled out, however, that the company may choose a completely different layout to make the top-of-the-range SUV even more unique.

What do you think?

In any case, the new Q7 will be based on the Premium Platform Combustion structure, which allows the adoption of electrified mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines. For the latter, the presence of larger batteries of more than 20-25 kWh seems to be a foregone conclusion to allow electric mileage of at least 60 miles and power outputs of more than 400-500 PS.

The sportier SQ7 could still have the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, albeit upgraded in efficiency and power.
