Automobili Lamborghini and the Italian State Police (Polizia di Stato) are celebrating the 20th anniversary of a remarkable partnership that began in 2004 with the delivery of a Lamborghini Gallardo. Since then, the Italian State Police have benefited from a range of high-performance vehicles that are indispensable tools in both patrol and medical operations.

These vehicles have carried out over 200 life-saving organ transports throughout Italy and have also been used in more than 1,500 road safety education events.

Prefect Vittorio Pisani, Chief of Police and Director General of Public Safety, said: "The twenty-year partnership with Automobili Lamborghini supports the Italian National Police in sensitive missions such as the transport of donor organs. This important mission is carried out in close collaboration with the National Transplant Centre and is symbolic of our commitment to serving the population. Lamborghini vehicles, from the Gallardo to the latest Urus, allow us to use the latest technology to fulfil these vital tasks quickly and safely."

Gallardo (2004-2008): The partnership began in 2004 with the delivery of the first Lamborghini Gallardo 510-4 to the state police in Rome. The first organ transport took place in the same year. With its powerful 5.0-litre V10 engine and innovative technology such as variable valve timing, the Gallardo served as a patrol and emergency vehicle for four years. A second Gallardo was delivered to Bologna in 2005 and was specially equipped with a refrigerated compartment for transporting organs.

As well as being used for motorway missions, it was equipped with a defibrillator and a cooling compartment for transporting organs.
