These were Europe's best-selling cars in October 2024
The Dacia Sandero takes the first position, followed by the Peugeot 208 and Volkswagen Tiguan. The Tesla Model Y is not in the top 25.
New car sales in Europe held steady in October 2024, with 1,040,390 units, i.e. 0.1 per cent less than in the same month of 2023. Looking at the cumulative figure, the data published by Jato show a 1.1 per cent growth between January and October, for a total of 10,796,414 cars sold in Europe.
It was electric cars that shone with +6.7 per cent year-on-year growth, followed by petrol cars with a shy +0.7 per cent. Diesel (-8.1 per cent) and PHEVs, on the other hand, continued their slump, down 7.2 per cent.
Europe's best-selling cars in October 2024
After the "pause" in September, the Dacia Sandero regained the top spot among the best-selling cars in Europe in October 2024, thanks also to the collapse of the Tesla Model Y, which lost 18 per cent last month, stopping at just 8,795 registrations, second in the ranking of best-selling electric cars - led by the Skoda Enyaq - and out of the top 25 overall.

Peugeot 208
Behind the Dacia Sandero is the Peugeot 208 with a leap of +40 per cent compared to October 2023, for a total of 20,389 units sold. Closing the podium is the new Volkswagen Tiguan at 17,368 and a growth of 72 per cent compared to last year. A remarkable figure due to the fact that at the end of 2023, the old generation was discontinued while the new one had yet to arrive in dealerships.
The top five best-selling cars list in Europe in October 2024 is closed with the Renault Clio in fourth position at 16,987 and the Toyota Yaris Cross at 16,542. Also worth noting is the slow but steady rise of the Volkswagen Golf, until a few years ago the undisputed king of the market, which closes in sixth position with +34 per cent compared to 2023, with 16,455 deliveries.
