The Mercedes-AMG GT43 Coupe Is a Pricey Four-Cylinder Sports Car
At $107,050, it's one of the most expensive four-cylinder cars ever built.
Mercedes rolled out an entry-level AMG GT Coupe back in March, but we had to wait until today to find out how much it costs. The GT43 starts at $107,050 after factoring in the $1,150 destination and delivery charge. Not exactly cheap for a four-cylinder car. That makes it about $6,000 more affordable than the SL43, which costs $113,100 by comparison.
Exorbitant pricing aside, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT43 Coupe has 416 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from its 2.0-liter hybrid engine, which uses an electric gas turbocharger. While the V-8-powered GT55 and GT63 models have all-wheel drive, the new base model sticks to a rear-wheel-drive setup.
Courtesy of the longitudinally mounted M139l engine upgraded from the "45" compact cars where it’s installed transversally, the AMG GT43 Coupe takes four and a half seconds to hit 60 miles per hour. Top speed isn’t mentioned, but the European model can do 174 mph. Mercedes installs the same 2.0-liter engine in the C63 and GLC63, both of which cost less than $100,000 before options. The four-pot is also found in a non-Mercedes product, the Lotus Emira.
Customers will be able to spend even more on a GT43 Coupe considering Mercedes is offering optional goodies such as 19- to 21-inch wheels, three AMG appearance packages, ventilated front seats, and a head-up display. It’ll also cost you more to order the 2+2 sports coupe with the Driver Assistance Package and a Burmester sound system. Other extras available vary from massaging front seats to the AMG Ride Control suspension.
Mercedes will have the entry-level AMG GT Coupe at dealerships across the US this fall.
