BMW and Mini have some early holiday presents for their customers. BMW’s latest model updates debut this November with enhanced versions of the 1 Series, a wider range of powertrains for the 5 Series Touring, and more rapid charging capabilities for select plug-in hybrids. Mini, not to be outdone, is also getting in on the action with a personalised style boost across its fleet.

The beloved 1 Series is getting a serious sibling with the new 123 xDrive, an all-wheel-drive hybrid that’s here to bridge the performance gap between the current 120 and the M135 xDrive. This latest addition packs a 218 PS punch courtesy of its electrified four-cylinder drive with 48V mild-hybrid tech – perfect for those who want a bit more firepower without the full M-badge commitment. Meanwhile, the top-tier M135 xDrive is flexing harder than ever with the new M Technology Package, introducing lighter construction and sharper chassis elements, promising a sportier, more responsive drive.

Fans of the spacious-yet-sporty 5 Series Touring can look forward to fresh engine choices with the 520 and 550e xDrive models. The 520 Touring brings a four-cylinder with 48-volt mild-hybrid tech for a robust 190 PS, while the new 550e xDrive pairs a hefty six-cylinder engine with BMW’s eDrive system for a combined output of nearly 500 PS. Perfect for families who like to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds.

And it’s not just about raw power – charging times are getting a serious revamp too. Plug-in hybrid owners can rejoice as AC charging speeds leap from 7.4 kW to 11 kW, cutting recharge times dramatically. Now, you can juice up the X5 xDrive50e in just three hours or get the M5 ready to roll in just over two hours. Yes, for the uninitiated, the M5 is a hybrid with a plug now.

What do you think?

Mini is here for those who love a splash of colour. From November, British Racing Green will grace the entire lineup of the brand, while Mini Cooper fans can choose from even sunnier options like Sunnyside Yellow. For the sporty set, new Blazing Blue and Icy Sunshine Blue colours are joining the Countryman and Cooper trims, respectively, offering a fresh take on the brand’s classic look.

If wheels are your thing, Mini’s got you covered. Its Sport trim Cooper models now come with 17-inch Sprint Spoke alloys, and Classic and Exclusive trims have new wheel choices, including sleek 19-inch Runway Spoke black alloys.
