Renault 4 E-Tech: Interior of the 'retro' electric crossover
The interior of the Renault 4 E-Tech is rich in carefully crafted materials and has plenty of technology. Here's how the French manufacturer rediscovers a 'classic'
The Renault 4 is back. Sure, it has grown in size and equipment, but philosophy and proportions are not so different. Nor are the interiors, which take up several aspects of the original model, at least conceptually.
So let's climb aboard the electric crossover to discover every detail.
Renault 4 E-Tech, the dashboard
The Renault's dashboard is developed horizontally and on several levels, with the taut lines of the upper part integrating the air conditioning vents. The central part is upholstered in fabric (in some trims), while the driver's area is enhanced by the digital instrument cluster and driver-facing infotainment display.
The infotainment system is based on Google Automotive and integrates the charge status manager while on the road, with the navigator taking into account the range and the presence of petrol stations to calculate the best route.
The seats, which feature denim-style fabric, are also very well cared for. Then there is the fabric sunroof, which echoes the Plein Air philosophy of the original model. Available in black, it consists of a plastic structure and can be retracted at the touch of a button.
Renault 4 E-Tech, trim and materials
The Renault 4 E-Tech appears to be very well finished in its choice of materials and in many details. In addition to the use of soft upholstery in key areas of the cabin, we find the presence of panels and mouldings with an unusual and personal style, such as the many fabric inserts.

In the most complete equipment, we also find a houndstooth fabric with yellow stitching and laser-engraved and backlit 'Renault 4' lettering, adding further personality to the cabin.
Renault 4 E-Tech, space and luggage compartment
The 2.62 metre wheelbase is quite generous in relation to the exterior dimensions. This allows the Renault to comfortably accommodate two rear passengers, while the middle third is a little more sacrificed, although the absence of the central tunnel improves roominess.
Renault 4 E-Tech Electric, the boot
The Renault 4's boot has a capacity of 420 litres, including 35 litres in the lower compartment. The tailgate is generously sized and the loading sill is low (61 cm). There are also a few pockets on the sides for storing smaller items.
