Lexus has announced plans to return to the 24 Hours of Nurburgring with two LFA supercars.

While the company says "it will be the first time the production LFA is seen in full-blooded competition," that's not entirely accurate. The cars will be prepared and fielded by Gazoo Racing - just like last year's pre-production prototypes.

Powered by a 552 hp (412 kW / 560 PS) V10 engine, the LFAs will be piloted by Takayuki Kinoshita, Akira Ida, Juichi Wakisaka, Kazuya Oshima, Armin Hahne, Jochen Krumbach, and Andre Lotterer.

As you may recall, the LFA has a disappointing history at the endurance race. Last year, one prototype caught on fire and the other finished 87th. In 2008, a prototype crashed and placed 120th.
