A woman attempts to put air in what she believes is a routine flat tire when she hears an alarming sound. Here’s what happened.

TikTok creator Emma (@emmabailz) posted a video with the full story.

“Sitting in the parking lot of the gym today and somebody knocks on my window,” Emma says to start the video. “‘I wasn’t sure if you were aware, but your tire is very, very low. Basically flat.’ No, I wasn’t aware, but thanks for telling me. I’m just going to go to the gas station across the street, put some air in it, and we’ll deal with it after work. OK, right? Wrong.”

What Happened When This Woman Attempted To Inflate Her Tire?

Unfortunately, the plan didn’t go as smoothly as she hoped. “As I’m putting air in the tire, I can actively hear the psssh sound of the air leaving the tire,” Emma says. “Upon inspection, there’s a big tear, hole, something. The tire is not gonna be filled up.”

This led her to a conclusion. “So I need to change the tire, right?” she says. “Looking around, trying to find someone that can help me. ‘You should know how to change your own tire.’ I know. I will know after this. This sweet old man comes and offers to help me.’

Her journey is derailed yet again, however. “I go to the back; there’s no jack,” she says. “My car has no jack. The sweet old man doesn’t have a jack either because he was on his motorcycle. At this point, I’m already going to be several minutes late to work.”

That’s when Emma had to call an audible. “So I just Uber to work, and I had to Uber all the way back here, and now I’m waiting for AAA to come and fix my car,” she says. “Not how I envisioned my evening going.”

Viewers React to The Woman’s Tire Discovery

In the comments section of the video, viewers offered their take on the situation and even some advice on how Emma should proceed moving forward.

“Amazon has some jacks that aren’t too expensive and they are better and safer than the ones that come with cars anyway,” said one person.

“That’s why both of my ex step daughters were taught how to change a tire and their oil,” a second person said.

A third person said, “To be honest, I know how to change a tire, but most of the time the nuts are put on very, very tight because they use a machine. And I couldn’t get the nuts off and that’s when I signed up for AAA.”

Does AAA Help With Flat Tires?

One of AAA’s services is responding to flat tires. The AAA technician will show up, assess the flat tire, and figure out if it needs to be aired up or replaced with a spare.

If the customer’s vehicle already has a spare tire, the technician will verify that it is inflated and safe and then will change the tire right there. In the case that there isn’t a spare available, the technician will tow the car to a tire shop.

What do you think?

So, will Emma need to completely replace her tire, or can she perhaps patch it up? It honestly depends on where and how large the hole is. A professional will likely need to inspect the tire before making an informed judgment.

Motor1 contacted Emma via TikTok comment and direct message for comment. We also reached out to AAA via press email for comment. We will update this story if either party responds.
