'That’s a First for Me:' Wisconsin Man Forgets to Buy Snow Tires. Then He Pulls Into the McDonald’s Drive-thru on His Snowmobile

A Wisconsin man without snow tires braved the winter weather conditions for a little McDonald’s. The drive-thru attendant hadn’t seen that one before.

TikTok creator Maclain (@715_foxbody) posted a video of the interaction on Dec. 28. The video, which currently has more than 4 million views, starts just as he pulls up to the window. "Are you there?" he asks.

The McDonald’s employee replies, "Yes, I am."

Maclain orders a Number 7, which is apparently a 10-piece McNugget meal in that neck of the woods.

"Any sauces?" the employee asks. "What the heck? I wasn’t even looking at my thing when you came up. I didn’t realize you were on a snowmobile."

Why Is This Wisconsin Man at McDonald’s on a Snowmobile?

"Yes, sir," Maclain says. "Car doesn’t have snow tires on it, so this is my mode of transportation, boss." From Maclain’s profile, it appears he is the proud owner of a Ford Mustang GT.

The McDonald’s employee is clearly thrilled and also committed to finishing his job. "That’s a first for me. Two sauces and a drink," he says. 

Maclain requests a Coke with Buffalo sauce. The employee offers him a Buffalo ranch, which Maclain declines. 

The employee explains, "It’s a little less hot." Maclain says, "I like it a little spicy sometimes."

"I don’t blame ya," the employee responds. "Alrighty. Rip on up here." And Maclain does just that.

In the caption, Maclain explains, "My bro needed nuggets and the car was stuck. This is truly my purest form of Midwestern hospitality."

Viewers React to the Wisconsin Man’s Snowmobile McDonald’s Run

The McDonald’s drive-thru employee chimed in on the comments section of the video. "Hey, I’m the guy that took your order," he wrote. "You definitely made my night."

Other viewers riffed on the exchange. "The pain in his voice when you denied his sauce [suggestion]," observed one person.

"‘Rip on up here,’" echoed a second viewer. "He rides for sure."

Someone else said, "Honestly, you’ve got the safest mobile on these typa roads!"

Another person said, "I’m surprised they served you. One time me and my buddy went through the McDonald’s drive thru on horses and they said they can’t serve us."

The History of Snowmobiles and McDonald’s

This isn’t the first time someone has considered combining snowmobiles and McDonald’s. The corporation opened a drive-thru location specifically for snowmobile riders in Sweden in 2002. The location’s parking lot could reportedly handle up to 60 snowmobiles at any given time.

However, many states regulate snowmobile use on public trails and roads for safety. So, it’s important to make sure you’re following all applicable laws before attempting something like this. In Wisconsin, snowmobile owners need to register before going out on the trail, and the operation of snowmobiles is banned on state highways.
